Training while on maternity

Rad2016 · 15/05/2020 09:40

I am currently on maternity and just received an email from my employer telling me I have outstanding mandatory training which I have to complete online. Question is am I allowed to do this while on maternity?

Yes of course you are 'allowed', why wouldn't you be? You probably shouldn't be 'forced' to do it, if you don't want to, because your work can't require or insist you do any work while on maternity leave, but its the kind of activity that is suitable for a 'keeping in touch day', particularly at the moment where physically coming into the office isn't possible. You should be paid for your KIT days, but they are optional so if you just don't want to then I'd email back politely saying you will complete the training when you return to work...
