Marriage tax refund

Has anyone used marriage tax refund.co.uk?It came up as an ad on my outlook and apparently we may be entitled to a £900 tax refund which we could really do with right now.

Just wondered if anyone irl has used it rather than going off the reviews on the website?

Does it take a percentage?
You don't need to pay someone to do this, just contact HMRC. I'm sure Martin Lewis had details.

www.gov.uk/apply-marriage-allowance

Why not just do it through the legitimate website? I imagine that other site will charge you for doing it

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/05/2020 09:24

Do it through gov.uk.
We did it a few weeks ago and DH got a tax rebate of over £600.

Just checked and they deduct 30% for something you can do easily yourself

ScarfLadysBag · 15/05/2020 10:18

Yep super easy to do it yourself. I gave DH some of my personal allowance last year as I was on mat leave. Don't ever use sites that charge you. They're a scam (well, they more just a rip-off).

Brilliant thanks all I'll get on the gov website and sort it. Thanks again!

Be careful as the claim continues automatically (or should do) until the recipient of the personal allowance cancels it. It makes for some fun discussions and explanations when the lower earner has a good year and gets taxed despite being under the normal personal allowance Grin
