NatWest Accessible cards

I’ve just received my new NatWest debit card and it’s an “accessible” card - like in the attached picture. I thought at first there had been a mistake, but searching on Twitter it looks like all newly issued cards are in this design.

I understand the thinking behind them but I really don’t like it all, is that ridiculous to care about the aesthetics of a debit card? It just looks quite cheap to me; like those throwaway prepaid cards for travel money. For someone who needs it I think the features are really useful, but I don’t think it’s necessary for it to be the default design.

Just reading back through my post and now I feel quite silly for caring what my debit card looks like, especially as I pay for everyone on Apple Pay anyway 😂

I think my new one should arrive soon and don't want it like that - my sons already have one - looks like a cheap throwaway. Bit like the modern solicitor's annual practising certs. - like toilet paper compared to the old embossed ones. Way of the world I suppose.....

What is different about them?

I have this card and I honestly thought nothing more than ‘oh the numbers are flat’.
Why does it matter?
