OK the house of twig has been overspending drastically in recent months, so I'm about to start sorting it out again (took my eye off the ball you see)

I know we do style and healthy living makeovers on here

Anybody want to join my Money Boot Camp? Get control of your money and stay in control?

NB this may be well over my head though but I'm pretty good at this normally

sign-up if you wanna try .. we could start next month?

I've already spent 45p today - have to buy lunch today as didn't get time to make it.. so reckon I'll end up sepnding around £5 today.

Going out tonight so that'll be unplanned expense. Have offered to drive though and free babysitter tonight so I'm being positive by thinking that babysitter would have been ~£20, taxis ditto drinks £30-40? so won't be spending half as much as sometimes would.

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 11:06

Well

I had coffee at home this am so didn't have to buy two only one

And had Alpen at desk not expensive bircher muesli

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 11:07

Also dh and I have agreed that on the day each of us works from home (we both do one day a week) we will make a packed lunch for the other one

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 11:07

he is very at the thought of packed lunch

saltire · 21/09/2007 11:11

I've not been so good today. I had to go into town, so £3.00 bus fare. However I did pay £100 into the account, so that's good. Then though I spent £3.50 in Woolies on something to put in ym neices Christmas present, £6.00 in poundland, and £9.00 in Boots on Medised for Ds2's cold and Syndol for me at the price of some emdicines

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 11:11

oh we got a nice cheque from Nationwide last night after the Portman buy-out. So this will fund our anniversary dinner on Saturday! Hurrah!

bozza · 21/09/2007 11:23

Not spending anything in the day today. But I have to go to my friend's launch party for Virgin Vie so will be obliged to buy something. But could maybe use it as a Christmas present, so just diverting my Christmas spending that way - but will have to be for my family because my SIL already does virgin vie. [sigh]

bozza · 21/09/2007 11:24

Still I will get to drink her wine instead of mine.

Twiglett · 21/09/2007 11:25

I really regret signing up for the mobile texting service when you go overdrawn from my bank

it always comes at 6am and wakes me up ... because I know exactly who it is ..

just looked at my overdraft & yikes i need to be here.

Earlybird · 21/09/2007 12:32

Didn't spend any money during the day yesterday (except, I suppose, petrol to/from school) because I worked from home. But, went out last night, so had 4 hours of babysitter and cost of supper. It was one of those over-priced rubber chicken charity events, so I guess I can console myself with the fact that most of the money went to a good cause.

Today should be low expense too, as I'm being taken out for a business lunch - which means they're paying!

Theclosetpagan · 21/09/2007 12:35

Yep - want to sign up. What do I have to do each day then?

scattyspice · 21/09/2007 12:39

How much do people pay for a baby sitter? Have never done this as assume it would be pricey.

Consequently don't go out .

bozza · 21/09/2007 12:40

I've never paid one - I rely on family/friends so only go out rarely. Well with DH, that is.

scattyspice · 21/09/2007 12:49

Me too bozza, go out with work friends me self from time to time, but can only go out wi DH when mum is staying with us.

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 13:58

God I have saved a FORTUNE today

I am a new vampire!

This month I screwed up my salary payment to myself (am self emp so can only blame myself) and got charged 4x bounced DD fees of £30 each on same day. Normally I would just be cross but think oh well

This time I called the bank and pleaded stupidity and previous good character (i haven't done this for a long time!) and they have waived all charges

Saved money at lunch as boss took me out

AND as I passed the pound shop on way back to work I went in. They had amazing toys for 99p and as dd has just started school and will doubtless have even more parties to go to now, I bought 5 of them and a pack of 10 birthday cards all for under £6 - normally I would spend at least £12 if not more on a card adn a pressie from posh toy shop. All of them are perfectly good pressies for a 5 yo (papier mache pig maker, colour activity roll with colouring pencils and stickers, winnie the pooh pencil tin and pencil/sharpener./rubber etc) So I reckon I have saved myself about £60 or more! AND 5 trips to toy shop!

CountessDracula · 21/09/2007 14:00

Twig I MUST get a gold star for that

Nbg · 21/09/2007 14:11

Yey for Drac and nice one for getting your boss to pay for lunch.
No Norbertness today then
I wish we had a pound shop here.

Ok I could do with some help. I'm on USwitch atm trying to look at saving on gas and electric but I dont fully understand my last bill and not sure if I'm filling out the form on Uswitch correctly.
Can someone help me do it?

I'm also going to do it for water, or at least try.

MascaraOHara · 21/09/2007 14:33

You can't do it for water - it just tells you whather your usage is average/above/below..

I didn't put in the amounts - just how much I was paying (as I pay a set Direct Debit) - I think

Well done That Drac!

SmartArse · 21/09/2007 14:42

Dammit, CD, I've got a Nationwide account and get nowt. Wish I'd been with Portman instead!

Nbg · 21/09/2007 14:43

I think I'll get dh to look at it otherwise I could end up making a big mistake.

Twiglett · 21/09/2007 14:48

gold star for CD ...

majorstress · 21/09/2007 14:59

ok I am going to try this too....wish me luck and good luck to all of yis

Celery · 21/09/2007 15:55

I know we're supposed to be starting next month, but I'm starting today, because it's pay day and I'm ready.

I spent £40 on petrol today, and I'm going to try to make it last the month ( I only use the car for pootling about on the isle of wight ). Will try to walk to school as much as possible and get shopping delivered.

I also bought some Clarins Beauty Flash from eBay as a last "treat", but I have to get out of that mentality now.
