OK the house of twig has been overspending drastically in recent months, so I'm about to start sorting it out again (took my eye off the ball you see)

I know we do style and healthy living makeovers on here

Anybody want to join my Money Boot Camp? Get control of your money and stay in control?

NB this may be well over my head though but I'm pretty good at this normally

sign-up if you wanna try .. we could start next month?

School-link stuff always justified imvho.

saltire · 27/09/2007 08:43

Well I had a £49 shop delivered on Tuesday from Asda, that included the delivery. Yesterday I finally got the £50 changed into English notes and was very good, I put £10 of it in my savings account - not a lot but every little helps. Then I used some to get Christmas presents, £3.00 in M&S for Dh's nan, and books in WHSmith, 3 for 2, so got some books for presents. The rest I still ahve in my purse, but the DSes have a disco tongiht, £3.00 each to get in, plus there will be hot dogs and ice cream there which they want

bozza · 27/09/2007 09:19

save the books for the children for Christmas twig.

bozza · 27/09/2007 09:23

Acutally I am interested in what you have ordered. I can see loads of stuff on there for DS but am a bit unsure about what to get for DD. She obviously has tons of picture books inherited from DS plus additions of her own, but how long will it be before we start reading her longer books? And if I get the random sets it is quite likely that we will have some of the books. Although I suppose they could always be used as presents for my nephews or birthday parties.

MascaraOHara · 27/09/2007 09:31

It sounds like we were all bad yesterday!

I spent ~£60 yesterday in M&S. Bad MOH, dd loves her clothes though and I had a lovely lovely dinner.

Also have stuff for nice dinner over the weekend so can think of it as a treat. Got payrise and have found a mortgage that I'm going to apply for today so will be rebudgetting next month.

Fingers crossed by the end of November I'm hoping to be around £300 better off a month.

I'm going to do a car boot this Sunday if the weather stays dry and bright - will put the money aside for Christmas.

bozza · 27/09/2007 09:44

I spent £12 in Asda on my groceries for the week (will also have veg box delivered and go to farm shop for meat but still not bad). Then went to Ann Summers party and bought knickers and bra set for £26 -but tasteful so I will actually wear it - none of this crotchless knicks and nipple tassle business.

Twiglett · 27/09/2007 11:30

ooo bozza can't save them for christmas .. far too exciting to use now .. tbh I rarely buy DD books .. its the cast-off generation isn't it

I bought

The Flat Stanley Collection - 5 Books NLE 1 £4.99 (for presents)
The Hutchinson Book of Kings and Queens KAQ 1 £3.99 (oh this looked fabulous with the cartoony stuff)
Crafty Histories Collection - 6 Books CTJ 1 £4.99 (covers Egypt AND the Romans DS will be in Raptures)
Art From The Past - 4 Books AHP 1 £5.99 (oh we do like our arty-farty stuff)
India - An Epic Journey Across the Subcontinent IDX 1 £7.99 (Dad's birthday present)
Oxford Junior Illustrated Dictionary IDJ 1 £3.99 (well you gotta don't ya .. was sorely tempted by the thesaurus too)
A Picture History of Britain PHK 1 £2.99 (can't remember why but its cheap)
Lazy Town Activity Set - 4 Books LZT 1 £4.99 (kids requested)

Got flat stanleys. DD doesn't know about lazytown. I have actually put her very own thread up for her about books because I am thinking of doing a book order for Christmas. I will have a look at the others. DS is hankering after the Horrid Henry Annual and the Match annual which he has seen on there.

popsycal · 27/09/2007 11:39

twig i vspent 25 at the book peoplr
most are xmas including a pack of 20 bookd - some for ds1 and the rest for birthday parties throughout the year

saltire · 27/09/2007 15:07

Twig - i have just ordered £29 worth of books from them and it's all your fault. I ahve to wait until tomorrow to actually put the otrder through, just in case my card is declined (pay day for DH tomorrow).
I ordered the Match annual, DR Who annual, school dictionary (Notice twig has one as well) and some others whose names escape me. All for Christmas presents

puffylovett · 27/09/2007 17:14

BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY ARE FREE

unless you knock up a £34 fine like some naughty boot camp members

unknownrebelbang · 27/09/2007 17:17

Yes, but you have to take them BACK.

Or rather, you're supposed to!

lol

unknownrebelbang · 27/09/2007 19:15

DH has apparently spent £7 in Aldi today.

DS3 has come home with letters for me to sign and return with a chq so that he can learn to play the blardy saxaphone, but I was expecting that, and he's offered to pay for the book himself.

Must go and peruse the schoollink stuff that's sat in my hall, then get the rest of them into school tomorrow (nearly forgot, oops).

popsycal · 27/09/2007 20:18

hmm
I have bought 3 for price of 2 toys in boots today for xmas presents - so really I have saved £15

I also accidenlty bought a bottle of £8 wine.....said on the shelf 3.99 but it was on the wrong shelf apparently. Bought it anyway. Tastes gooooood

Still saved £7

MascaraOHara · 27/09/2007 21:14

ok spent nothing today.

Planning to spend nothing tomorrow also. Think a nice young man is taking me out tomorrow night. I am not going to buy a new outfit!

Mortgage application is being finished off tomorrow.

Does anyone have a phone provider other than BT? I have a home landline but I literally never use it. Still costs me £15 a month.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 27/09/2007 21:47

mascara, we're having a bt line put in, ours was some other line but don't know what and its gunna be £11 a month, try ringing bt to see if you can get a bit cheaper!

well today i spent :

£10.67 on postage (but buyer paid so not me really0
£10 on credit for my phone as phone is due to be cut off soon and iv had no mobile credit for 3 months, this should last at least 2 months tho!
£10 on fruit and veg in the market.

ho hum! bad day!

MascaraOHara · 28/09/2007 11:01

Well my plans have changed. I'm going to go out and get completely wasted tonight so I reckon I'm planning to throw ~£80 down the toilet (literally) today.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 28/09/2007 11:12

any reason for the getting wasted MoH?

MascaraOHara · 28/09/2007 11:24

If I said it was just to blot out the misery would you think I was unhinged(?)

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 28/09/2007 11:33

no would think you're being sensible!

id do the same! make sure you enjoy it tho!

unknownrebelbang · 28/09/2007 20:18

DH popped to B&Q for an essential purchase (gardening gloves for DS1 on camp this weekend) and came back with shelving
To be fair, they're reduced by 75% and they will be used, so I'll let him off.

He did, however, buy a bag of sweets whereas I've been really sensible all week - but he's left them in his car (which is now on the work's carpark until at least 3 am).

TeenyBearistheTeenyTinyBear · 01/10/2007 09:05

Have only just found this thread, is it too late to join for October?

TeenyBearistheTeenyTinyBear · 01/10/2007 09:06

I've already spent £5.30 on ebay and I've only been awake for an hour and a half...

MascaraOHara · 01/10/2007 09:21

I spent nearly £500 over the weekend on clothes. I am crappola at this stuff.

unknownrebelbang · 01/10/2007 09:32

Maybe Mascara, but it sure as hell puts my spending into perspective, lol.
