Working to earn for parents?

Hi - my dad has sadly been made redundant and my mums health is not good enough to work. Are there any restrictions on me taking on another job and sending them all the earnings for a few months to financially support them? Thanks

That's very kind. In the UK you need to check what your contract says about taking up a second job and tax and/or benefits implications. If your parents claim benefits I would look at how that extra income for them might affect their benefits.

The day after your father was made redundant, if in UK. He should apply for universal credit, contributions based job seekers allowance, via www.gov.uk. it's not back dated, so he needs to apply asap

If he was given a redundancy payment, this is not taken into account for a certain time period

If your parents rent, they should receive universal credit to pay this

If your parents have a mortgage they can ask their bank for a payment holiday
