Credit rating

Does anyone know if you accidentally answer a question wrong in a loan application and get turned down because of it, does this affect your credit rating? My DH was applying online for interest free credit with Apple through Barclays and one of the questions to check identity was how much is left on your mortgage. He asked me and I didn't realise how important it was so squinted at the tiny writing and just said 'er the middle one?' But it was wrong and he then got rejected. He rang them and explained and they said they didn't know if it would and he'd have to wait a few days to apply again. A big stress over a tick in the wrong box! It was only a few hundred quid and he was only doing it cos they had an interest free offer on!

They would have done a credit check and this will have caused his rating to go down yes. Do you ever check your credit rating it's quite easy

Ah I see you failed because you didn't pass the identity test. In that case they will have rejected you before carrying out the credit check so it won't affect your rating like they say try again in a few days
