Hi

Dp is having to put in a claim due to Corona and being self employed.

Is it normal the online form keeps "bouncing back" either with additional questions or questions that were answered already.

My "to do list" was empty when first submitted and now I just had to sign back in two days in a row and tick boxes I'd already ticked.

Can be fairly typical.

Yes dos part bounced back as now needing our earnings each month and I needed to remind them I'm white British and straight...Hmm

The earnings they ask for over the past 12 months is to see if you are exempt form the benefit cap. The other questions you mention are optional I think.

I understand the earnings part although why that couldnt be on the first part of the process I dont know. But we filled it all out 2 weeks ago including the equality questions I dont understand why that bounced back..

Usually one puts their bits in, the other does their bit, then the first person has to confirm the "added" bits before submission.

The previous Earnings bit is for the Benefit Cap (to determine exemptions).

Have you definitely only made one claim? (I realise this sounds like a stupid question, but several people have made multiple claims by mistake - which does seem bizarre considering you need a new e-mail each time).

SarahTancredi · 13/04/2020 17:13

I think so..it read as a joint application I had to confirm parts of his as well as about me... I'll get do to check tomorrow. He had to fill in what we both earnt so appears to be joint. Although I did have to set up a username and password for my bit but it sid display both our names and to do lists.

Yes that sounds right. Sorry, probably was g very clear - you both have your own accounts with username / password etc but they show linked when you look at that to-do list.

You'd both be asked the same questions - so both would get the questions about previous earnings and both get the equality questions etc.

This is because if the claim were to split this "data" stays with each individual claim.

Ah! Brainwave! The "Confirm your previous Earnings" To-Do popped up again as were in a new tax year from April?! That's my guess at least.

SarahTancredi · 15/04/2020 21:50

Yes maybe that was why as I had previously submitted my monthly wage. And assumed do had done the same. Apparently we will receive a letter next month saying how much we are getting if we will get anything so fingers crossed its moving in the right direction. The self employed package wont kick in til june so we need this.
