NHS maternity pay

I'm 24 weeks pregnant. I am trying to work out my Mat leave payments and would appreciate some advice.

I work for the nhs and can either chosen to have my nhs maternity pay as a fixed amount spread equally over the year I am on leave or have 8 weeks full pay, 18 weeks 1/2 pay then SMP for 13 weeks then 13 weeks unpaid.

It says there maybe implications for my pension contributions if I pay as a fixed amount. I've tried to look on nhs pension website but am finding I difficult to work out what the implications might be. I currently 13.5% of my salary to my pension.

Thanks for any help
