Universal credit & obligation to job search when I can’t take the work?

I am SE and all work was cancelled 2 weeks ago. I applied for UC which comes with an agreement to job search for 35 hours per week. Which is fine under normal circumstances but due to CV there is no school and no childcare and as a single parent I have no one else here who can look after my DC. So I can apply for loads of jobs- there are plenty hiring- but I can’t actually accept any of the jobs. I have asked twice now on my UC journal for clarity on whether the obligation to job search has been lifted due to the circumstances. The first time I received a long list of the various conditions of UC and the sanctions but none of it answered my question. I’ve had no response yet to my latest request.

Does anyone know? I can’t be the only one in this situation.

Everyone's requirement to job search has been lifted.

Everyone’s commitments have been switched off, which means you don’t need to look for work.

Thank you both!

You’re welcome. You should receive a reply in your journal, but it may take a few days ( or possibly longer), as there’s been a huge amount of claims in the past couple of weeks and it’s taking a bit of time to get through everything.
