UC assessment period...

Can it be changed?
Mine is currently 28th -27th which just doesn't work for me. I get paid on the 28th but if that falls on the weekend like it did this month I'll get it on either the 26th or 27th which means I get no UC as it looks like I've earnt a lot in My assessment period and I also get no money for nursery fees!
It would work a lot better for my period to be the 30th - 29th.
I'm gonna trying ringing them tomorrow but I'm aware I'll probably be in Homs for hours so just throwing the question out here first 🙈

Unfortunately not. If you claim UC again within 6 months of stopping a claim, they use the same assessment period. The only way you could change it is to stop claiming, wait 7 months, then claim again. Not practical.

No it can't be changed. But your employer can and should report your pay date as being the 28th even if they actually pay you earlier some months.

This is for employers (the payroll team):
"You must enter the usual date that you pay your employees, even if you pay them earlier or later. For example, if you pay your employees early because your usual payday falls on a Bank Holiday, you should still enter your regular payday."
www.gov.uk/running-payroll/reporting-to-hmrc

I advise you to email HR and/or payroll to request that they do this.

Whaaaaatttt that's so ridiculous isn't it! Sometimes I think these places just want to set you up to fail!
I'll give my HR an email though and see what can be done. I suppose next assessment will look like I don't get a wage and should have the corona increase so it should be a decent pay but god knows how I'm going to manage this month 😩

Thank you for the advise though :)
