I think I would go for an older iPhone, maybe the iPhone 6? that way you can set up parental controls direct on the phone. music magpie (a 2nd hand tech site) have one here for £99 with 32 gb, or £84 for 16gb. in terms of contracts, have a look at voxi, they are supposed to be good value for money

Plusnet and vodafone have cheap SIM only plans at the moment. I pay 7.70 for unlimited texts, minutes and 5gb data. I bought the phone elsewhere.

Smarty mobile (Three network) have a sim only card at £10 a month, unlimited calls, messages and 30gb of data and you're not tied to a contract.

For a 7year old, don't go for a phone like the iphone that will smash into smitherines at the slightesy drop!

For a 7year old,

It’s year 7, not a 7 year old

LovingLola · 29/03/2020 19:24

But it would be less confusing if people just said the child’s age

My 11 year old has a second hand iPhone (think it must be a 6), and a giffgaff sim with £8 a month on it.
