Budget Tracking Books

Does anyone use or have experience using a budget tracking book? My friend has suggested using one as she says it keeps track of everything. She uses just a notebook but I have seen online that several companies sell specific books to track your finances. What are the best ones to use and are they any good?

I have a little notebook that l keep in my purse and all expenditures go in there. So currently l have £100 "left" in my account. However there isn't if you actually look at the bank balance.... there is an awful lot more. But that's because my next months bills haven't yet been debited.
