Why does this maternity pay calculator show payments during 3 month unpaid leave period?

Hi,
I've just come across this NHS maternity pay calculator and have been having a play. I start maternity leave next month and my Trust won't give me a breakdown of what I can expect to get until after I start maternity so not particularly helpful, plus that is gross anyway.
So I found this which seems very helpful as it's broken down my net pay every month. But I'm very confused about why there are payments, albeit small ones during the last 3 months which should be unpaid leave. Surely I shouldn't be getting anything the last 3 months? I've opted not to spread my payments evenly which I did set up on the calculator. Did anyone working for the NHS receive small payments during the last 3 months or should I just ignore all of this calculator as not being in any way accurate?
Thank you.

No I didn't get any pay after 9 months. That's odd.

In the NHS you can opt to have your enhanced pay spread over 12 months (although the SMP part of it is over the normal nine months).

I just used what looks like the same calculator and it went to £0. Maybe just try again, or try a different due date to get a rough idea. (Obviously if your due date is mid month the 9 months pay will stretch over 10 months).

Attempting to add a random calculation I did. Salary £40000, due date 3rd Sept. I am unclear why some months are higher than the normal wage!

Thanks for looking, I've put in the numbers again and can't see where I'm going wrong but it's still coming up with the same figures. Very odd 🤔

I was able to send them a message to ask why and they came back to me to say that is most likely due to a tax rebate I'd be due do to a drop in income. I guess we'll just need to wait and see 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thanks for your answers.

I work in the NHS & was on maternity leave in 2018 (am again now actually) & was really confused because I got paid after the initial 9 months were up. They weren't huge payments but I was obviously expecting nothing.

If this is net pay then it will be a tax rebate at the end

FabbyChix · 26/02/2020 20:24

It could be tax repaid

modgepodge · 28/02/2020 20:18

Yeah I was on maternity pay (not NHS) and only twice received the amount I was actually expecting when on statutory out of 6 months (£550 ish after tax and pension) as the first few months on 90% pay I paid tax and this gradually was repaid over the next few. I never went to unpaid as I went back before that, but I bet that’s what’s happening here.
