Maternity pay

I started my new job 2 weeks ago meaning if I got pregnant now I would be able to get SMP. They want me to switch job roles which would happen in the next month or 2. Would I still get SMP as it's technically starting a new job but will be after the cut off if that makes sense or doesn't it matter as it's the same organisation and place of work just different job title

Can’t see how you wouldn’t qualify for SMP when you move role unless you are moving company. Also, so long as you are employed for a particular number of days in a particular period you would still qualify for maternity allowance which in my experience is the same rate as SMP. Hope that helps but worth contacting the gov. office that deals with SMP etc for clarity.
