Credit card dependants

Hey ladies happy Monday!
Credit cards...we have 2 kids and myself and my husband earn a similar amount, not a great amount I may add! I want to get a credit card in my name. It obviously asked how many dependants I have and this will have a bearing on my eligibility. So do both the kids count as my dependants? Is it only one as we both put in to our finances? Can they both be dependant on my husband's income?!! Thanks x

You have 2 dependents as you have 2 children (who I assume are under 18).

In the extremely tragic event that your husband should drop dead tomorrow (God forbid), the children are still your responsibility and from a financial point of view, thats all the lender is asking you so the answer is 2 because you have 2 people dependant on you for their survival. The fact that you share that responsibility with someone else does not matter in the slightest to a lender.

Children have almost no bearing on getting a credit card, its not like a mortgage, they will be looking at your income and credit history. I have never been asked any great detail about outgoings.

Do a pre check on money saving expert to see what credit cards will accept you. That way you don't apply needlessly for the ones that you have absolutely no chance of being accepted for.
