I divorced in 2013 with the court awarding the ex our former marital home because he was in a higher earning bracket and I had no job as I was the main carer for our toddler. Despite being instructed to remove my interest from the property, he has made no attempts to do so. Meanwhile in the last few years, he has defaulted on the mortgage payments to the point of repossession then conjuring up the settlement at the 11th hour. He refuses to acknowledge any correspondence and is in possession of the property with his current partner. Recently, the mortgage lender changed and with this their attitude to the arrears has differed - with a "field agent" arriving at my rented home to "discuss," the arrears. The relationship with the ex was abusive and controlling. So, my question has anyone taken something this like to court and what was the outcome? BTW, I have no confidence in the UK Family Court system.
