and not the kind you would expect!

We havent overspent, in fact we are broke before that! Lol

Basically we decided to do our house up with the money my parents were giving us for the wedding.

We ALL decided that was best as everything we own since moving in 2 years ago was second hand and falling apart. Me and DP arent 'party people' and weren't looking forwards to the reception at all.

So we are getting married and going back to my mums after with small group of people for meal and champers.

BUT - we had a small amount of money put away for the wedding, but when we started to do up the house we got a bit carried away and spent it on flooring for the kitchen and other bits.

Now its 8 weeks till the wedding - and even though were not doing it BIG I hadnt realised how much we do still actully have to buy and now Im panicking!!

Basically i need shawls/boleros for the 3 bridesmaids as its winter and cant have them freeze - (I can do my own make up - but wouyldve liked to buy some new) i have no nice underwear, the men dont have suits, the fee for the church and other bits and bobs!

Oh and the champers and buffet food!
Oh dear

You cn get a book out of the library with really cheap flower arrnagement, or try your local college- ours runs lots of floristry courses, if so put a sign up asking for cheap help they may also have a beauty school where you can get cheap facials / make up done etc.

November wedding- hmm, what's seasonal to decorate? November is a big season back home but you won't have those themes- don't suppose there's any fireworks dispalys near you to hoik poele over t? .

How about buying some squash / pumpkins, placing them in baskets 9second hand shops) with maybe carved hearts etc, put a alrge cheap candle in the centre of each basket... very ahrvesty and very decorative. trail some ivy over the top- voila! REALLY cheap.

We got our flowers for the house from the supermarkets, I went out the night before the wedding to asda, tesco, sainsbury's and marks and bought as many flowers in my colour scheme as I could, cost me about 30 quid, and then chucked them all in clear glass vases from pound shop and scattered around the house. I ended up with so many flowers I had to put a load in the loo!

Chirpygirl · 31/08/2007 15:16

not in the loo, just in a vase on a shelf...obviously

Just seen pic of your dress, you look truely gorgeous.
Really suits you.
Where do you live?
If its near me, i'll arrange flowers for you or come and decorate your mums house, if its any help.
Would even do some food for you.
