Statutory Maternity Pay - while living abroad

Hi

If you are definitely entitled to SMP but you move abroad during your maternity leave, are you still entitled to receive it until you hand your notice in.

Or

Can you hand your notice in and continue to receive the SMP

The person claiming would be moving to Oz permanently but would only have moved 2 to 3 months after going on maternity leave.

I've checked the DWP site & it says

"I go to live abroad or visit?

If you are already getting SMP and go abroad, your employer will still pay you SMP."

Absolutely, where you are living is irrelevant.

Thanks for your replies.

I called ILR this morning and they confirmed that where I live is irrelevant as is whether I have left my employer or not.
