If I were to leave the family home of which I own 50% of, could I be eligible to get help to rent a place while we are separated?
Thanks in advance.

The equity maritial home may be treated as capital for Uc purposes. However if reasonable steps are being taken to sell the house then UC will pay you a rent element for 6 months I think and it can be disregarded. Do you have much equity in the property because when it is sold then if it's over 16k it will rule you out of claiming Uc altogether. If it is being put into buying another property then I believe it can be disregarded.
