Viagogo

Just bought tickets to guns and roses on viagogo. They are e tickets so I already have them but how do I know if they are real or not. They both have the same female name on them.

I didn’t realise viagogo was a reseller. Feeling a bit stupid now.

How can I check the tickets are real and will let us in?

I don't think you can check. They are guaranteed in as much as if you don't get in, they will refund you (but that doesn't help if you miss your concert). I bought two sets of tickets this year through them before I heard of the problems with them (they just appeared above ticketmaster in a search, I'd no idea they were resellers either). I got very nervous but we got into both concerts without any difficult, so hopefully you should be fine OP.

I’ve used viagogo for tickets a few times and tbh they’ve always been absolutely fine. I was like you initially though - nervous that they were genuine, but never had problems.

Bellasblankexpression · 21/12/2019 23:57

If you’re worried you can sell them on again on the same site, I did that with baseball tickets and got the money immediately

BettyJean · 22/12/2019 09:21

@Bellasblankexpression

It says that if I sell them, I don’t get the money until 5 days after the event. This is because the purchaser has 5 days to complain that the tickets were invalid.

I've always been fine with them and have bought several tickets before. Sold on there too.

BettyJean · 22/12/2019 09:25

@Hohonoshow

Yes, I followed a link from FB. They do also come too if google searches. They must be spending a lot on advertising.

Flights and hotel to Dublin are now booked (both of these were quite cheap). If we can’t get in, then we’ll just have to get a refind on the tickets and go and do something else for the evening.

They always look dodgy IMO

Never had an actual problem with the tickets though.

BettyJean · 22/12/2019 09:26

People saying the tickets were fine is making me feel a lot better! I guess there is nothing I can do now, other than wait until June. I also bought them on my credit card so I have some protection there too.

You'll be fine

I always find it weird how they have the name of someone else on. Seat number has even changed slightly in the past. But always got in.

Have a great time

PrimalLass · 22/12/2019 09:47

I've sold tickets on Viagogo. It's fine.

Hohonoshow · 22/12/2019 10:37

I've paid way over the odds for my viagogo tickets. Although I got in I would not use them again.

Bellasblankexpression · 22/12/2019 12:53

They said that when I sold mine but I got the money straight away

bbcessex · 23/12/2019 09:27

I've bought via Viagogo a couple of times before, OP.

I won't use them again because price-wise, they are a total rip off, but they've always been valid for the shows.

BettyJean · 23/12/2019 21:29

You are all defo making me feel better, thank you!

OP posts:
stanski · 23/12/2019 21:38

I've bought multiple times (and sold once) and it's all been fine. Whilst it says if you sell you don't get paid til after event, when I sold some tickets I got funds 3 days later and the event wasn't for another 2 months. That said, never had an issue with tickets from there.!

beguilingeyes · 30/12/2019 14:17

The trick with viagogo is to wait as long as you can, preferably the day of the concert and prices drop dramatically.

lovelyupnorth · 30/12/2019 15:38

Viagogo I'm sure the tickets will be fine, but you'll have paid massively over the odds for them. still think they should be banned

BettyJean · 30/12/2019 18:18

@lovelyupnorth

Thanks. We paid £50 extra for 2 tickets. My own fault for not checking where I was buying from. Lesson learnt. Just hoping we can get in now - flights and hotel are booked.

You should be fine, @BettyJean - it's a damn shame that companies like Viagogo are allowed to operate but with the way ticket sales work these days, it's nigh on impossible to get them via 'normal' routes so what other option do you have?

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. I've used them 3 times for sold out shows with no problem.

Have a great time!

lovelyupnorth · 30/12/2019 20:50

@BettyJean

To be fair £50s not bad. One I saw was some one trying to resell a £30 ticket for £300 on a local sell and seek site.
