Can I get DLA AND work part time?

I am waiting to hear about DLA (forms are with the CPN) and have just seen a job I think I can cope with - it's just cleaning for 2 hours a day but it's something. The only thing is I cannot remember if you can work (or study) and get DLA. DH is having to go back to work now also as 2 months on the DLA people are still faffing so we cannot get carers allowance yet, which has a knock on effect trying to claim income support then housing benefit etc. which means we are about £3,000 in debt as we have zero income. Anyway, does working effect DLA?
