Credit card

I have a Barclaycard credit card with £3k on it (which I no longer use to spend) but now the interest free period has ran out and the interest is around £40 a month (and I'm unable to apply for another credit card).
Is there anything Barclaycard might be able to do to help? Is there any such thing as a repayment plan with them and for them to close the account?

Worth giving them a ring to find out. They’re the only ones who are in a position to say yes or no.

Yeah i guess so. I wasn't sure if it was an actual thing or maybe I'm wishful thinking

They may freeze the interest for a short time, but remember this is what Barclaycard were hoping to happen - whilst you were in the interest free period Barclaycard were making no money from you. The majority of customers pay the balance off before the end of the promotional period, it's the ones that don't that make Barclaycard money through interest payments.

Remember that if you make an arrangement to pay then it will have a devastating impact on your credit file and will most likely affect you getting credit any time soon.

Ring them to ask about interest freeze.
Set up a standing order for £10 above the minimum payment & let it run. It will be paid off soon.. pop over to the debt free thread..there's help there

Take a weekend or evening job in a pub of the foodie type if you can, this time of year they are often looking for more staff and will take just 1 or 2 shifts, and you can easily earn a lot in tips. It's how I saved for my house deposit working extra to the day job.

Thanks for all your replies. I have contacted Barclaycard and they have reduced my interest rate from 19% to 6% for two years. Glad I phoned them now
