Pay day loan fraud

DP has had a phone call today from a debt collector chasing a £1000 pay day loan from a loan company called Sunny.

But he’s never taken the loan out. We have no details whatsoever of a loan, no letters, emails, texts. Obviously it’s been bouncing each month and his credit rating is shot to shit.

He has checked his Experian account and two credit cards have also been opened up, again we had no knowledge of these.

He’s spoke to the CAB who reckon the pay day loan fraud is hard to prove so may as well start paying it off! What the fuck!

He’s logged it with the loan company and the credit cards and also with Experian but overall my dead body are we paying that loan!

We were meant to be starting looking for buying a house in the new wheat and his credit rating has halved with all this.

Does anyone have any advice at all?

Surely if they have no evidence of him taking out this loan.
Contact citizens advise.
What bank account did they pay the money into.
It should be on them to prove. Contact the non emergency police line and report fraud in his name.

Use the GDPR to request all the information from the loan company, when where how.

Thank you.

We’ve found the the address they used on the credit check was one from about three years ago! We live in a different county now, and have proof of that obviously. Just goes to show how rigorous their credit check is!

We’ve found the Martin Lewis Resolver website and they help you sum it everything to the credit companies to dispute the debt.

Great. I cannot believe you were advised to pay this back. I hope it gets sorted out soon.
