I'm due a rebate of about £500, they said it may take about 7 days to go into my bank but nothings there and it's been 14 days. They said they issued the payment to my bank but its not there. Where do I go from here??

HMRC don’t usually process rebates at this time of year. Are you sure you haven’t been scammed?

shas19 · 25/11/2019 13:55

No havent been scammed. I spoke directly to HMRC!

Ask them to confirm the bank details it was sent to and the date sent. Then ask them to put a trace on the payment if the bank details are correct. Or have they sent it as a cheque?

PiggyPlumPie · 25/11/2019 13:55

NeedAnExpert I had one a couple of weeks ago, totally legit.

OP have you asked your bank? That's where I would start.

shas19 · 25/11/2019 13:56

What will the trace do??

How did you receive notification of your rebate? Was it by post or email? There are heaps of scam emails on this subject.

If it is a genuine rebate, have you checked that HMRC have your correct bank details?

dementedpixie · 25/11/2019 13:56

The trace needs to be done by the originating bank

shas19 · 25/11/2019 13:56

I spoke to the bank and they said they cant see anything either! Really confused

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 25/11/2019 13:57

The trace will show where the payment has gone

dementedpixie · 25/11/2019 13:58

Your bank cant help. It's the originating bank that needs to look into it.

shas19 · 25/11/2019 13:59

Really annoying. Theyve said they issued the payment and theres not much they can do

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 25/11/2019 14:01

Have they confirmed the bank details with you? When are they saying it left their account?

shas19 · 25/11/2019 14:03

29th September

OP posts:
shas19 · 25/11/2019 14:04

Yes all details are correct also

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 25/11/2019 14:06

Are you sure you mean september?

shas19 · 25/11/2019 14:07

I had spam email about this very recently. Did you call the number shown in the email or did you find the number another way?

shas19 · 25/11/2019 14:15

I called the number straight off of Google. It's not a scam I've just done it late

www.gov.uk/tax-overpayments-and-underpayments/if-youre-due-a-refund this says if you don't claim online within 45 days you get it sent by cheque. Did you phone the number given on the above page?

Have you double and triple checked around the date of 29th October for a deposit?

ListeningQuietly · 25/11/2019 19:20

HMRC don’t usually process rebates at this time of year
refunds are processed year round
self assessment ones are taking around 4 weeks
triple check the details on your return

Frenchw1fe · 25/11/2019 20:50

My husband’s rebate went through in a week.
You need to check what bank details they used.

Babyroobs · 25/11/2019 22:17

I also had one a couple of weeks ago which went into my bank account fine within the timescale they gave.
