Maternity allowance what counts?

Maybe someone else has been in a similar position so will know more.. I’ve been on hold for 2hours with maternity allowance so far and will need to hang up eventually.

I currently get mat allowance, and I’m pregnant again.. I’m not going back to work, childcare wasn’t feasible in the first place.. never mind adding in another pregnancy or dc. My test period basically falls in a period where I can’t give enough pay slips to cover what they need as my maternity allowance started again. The notes don’t cover this just saying did you earn more than £30 a week.. would they count m/a as income?

Apparently MA isnt counted as income.

If you dont qualify you may be able to claim universal credit or ESA

Would you believe you answered at the same time as the advisor Grin.. ears are ringing from that hold music.

You’re right, we’ll get a small UC top up, was just hopefully that my initial suspicion was wrong as mat allowance pays what UC will a month in one week. Obviously it’ll go up once dc2 comes out.
