Hello,

Interested to know what others spend on food shopping each week for their families?

Thank you!

WalkAwaySugarbear · 09/11/2019 20:40

Thank you! I meant to also ask for how many ppl. I am a single mum of one. Currently at university surviving on £300 a month including food. I shop at Aldi & meal prep but Im struggling and was curious as to how much others spend!

About £50 a week were a family of 4. We eat very little meat and don't really drink alcohol. I try to batch cook and make things from scratch as it's usually much cheaper.

flirtygirl · 09/11/2019 21:30

£300 for 2 people is loads op. Is that just on food or is that other things included?

stucknoue · 09/11/2019 21:33

About £40 a week these days for dd and I (she's adult and veggie) includes boring stuff like cleaning materials and loo roll plus deodorant etc. Another £20 on takeaway/meals out

bananajelly · 09/11/2019 21:39

About £80-£100 per week

There is 5 of us and one pet.
2 DC and DH have lunchboxes each day.

We are meat eaters, don't drink alcohol and I meal plan.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 09/11/2019 21:41

Two adults and two kids - about £200 per week, that's everything, toiletries, cleaning products, breakfasts, lunch and tea, plus take aways and meals out.

As a single mum, with two dc and skint, I could get away with £50 per week by being really strict

PurpleFrames · 09/11/2019 21:45

Single person
£20 max for everything from supermarket

Monkeychunkyfunky · 09/11/2019 21:55

Between £50-£80 a week for 4.

user1463007194 · 09/11/2019 22:06

Great to read your responses. No, £300 is what I have each month after all bills, rent etc. I live in central London and it just seems impossible to live on £300. I spend about £40 a week in Aldi and batch cook, I'm very careful with money now. I rarely but coffee out etc but I find with travel etc things my son needs I just run out of money and chat make it last a month. So I wondered what others spend on food shopping for comparison. I also have a cat so spend money on cat food & litter
