Building & Content Insurance

I wonder if someone can advise - I am a fool. Normally I am really good and check out all the alternatives for my buildings and contents insurance when I get the email from my insurers, do all the comparison websites, phone my current insurers etc etc.

This year everything has just been ridiculous. Work is ridiculous, I am having to deal with my mother who has Alzheimer's, I have a full time job with a 4 hour round commute and I'm a single parent of a 5 yr old. Anyway, my point is that I am v v busy and I have totally dropped the ball on my insurance.

It expires tonight and whenever I thought of it (and I did a couple of times), I assumed it would roll over but I have just logged in to my provider and it shows only my expired insurance not any future insurance and I am panicking that from midnight tonight I won't be insured.

Should I therefore:
A) hope I don't get burgled tonight/the house doesn't burn down and sort it in the morning
B) arrange cover through an alternative insurer and then cancel that within the 14 day cooling off period if I do have cover through my current insurer
C) get cover through my current insurer and call them in the morning if I am doubling up?

Any thoughts welcome ....

And yes, I know, am a fool .....

Does it expire at midnight? Just call them at 8am in the morning and get it sorted. You'll be pretty unlucky for something to happen in the space of those eight hours.

Can you not go online and renew it? You got the company name and policy number?

You're not a fool, you sound like you enough on your plate. I did the same last year, no insurance for 5 days 🙈

Thanks both. Renewing doesn't seem to be an option so I have taken out another policy with them and will double check in the morning it is all fine - I am too scared to be without insurance for even a few hours the way my year is going!

Haven't you received renewal documents? You must have done? It will say on there whether it renews automatically or not
