How much could we borrow?

Have used the calculator to see how much we could borrow but not sure I trust a computer.

I earn £16000 (don’t work full time)
Partner earns £28000 based on his contracted 40 hour week but at least another £5000 in overtime.

We have £4500 credit card debt.
£4000ish left on HP.

How much would we be able to borrow does anyone know?

The online calculators are usually quite good actually. Presumably you mean for a mortgage? What is your deposit?

Oh yea sorry just realised I didn’t even say Blush

I’d like to think £25000 but that’s kind of worst case scenario depending on the value of our house. We’ve only lived jere for 2.5 years so not got much equity yet!

When we got our mortgage a few months ago, we had a total of £4000 debt between us yet to pay between credit card and HP. Our broker got us an offer which worked out as 4.25 x our joint income and that was with good/excellent on our credit files (no late payments to).

I believe lenders can sometimes go up to 5 x joint income but will deduct a bit for outstanding debt I think based on perceived affordability. Will depend on your other committed outgoings as well of course.
