Hi all, posted a couple of threads before and hope no one in rl recognises me but we are now in a real situation and I'm not sure what to do.

Basically my husbands company hasn't met their paybill for the past two months. He finally got paid on the 2nd last month which doesn't sound that bad but as he is our main breadwinner and mortgage comes out on the 1st... It actually hits us quite hard. Come this month he was meant to get paid today and it hasn't happened. He has rung accounts and they have promised it by the 31st, but they did this last month. What do we do? We have no money until I get paid on the last working day of the month.

I really don't want this to become a thread about we should have a savings account for this kind of thing. I have just gone back from maternity leave and we kind of used that fall back pot for that, so living paycheck to paycheck while we try to build it back up. We were naive last month and what little money we have saved since I went back went on late payments and fees.

He is also beside himself as not only is he stressed about our situation, his entire team haven't been paid on time for the second month and are up in arms. He was on leave today and apparently management were giving them grief for typical day to day complications , despite the fact they hadn't been paid. Added to this, no one actually got told apart from a brief email in the morning saying they hoped they would get it by the 31st. Contract says they will be paid last Friday of the month.

The next 5 days are going to be a struggle... Luckily baby isn't a fussy eater and as he's over one, he is on cowsmilk so we can scrabble something together for him. Going to be late with nursery fees for the second month in a row though as the tax free childcare account takes so long to upload money

Do you have an overdraft facility or credit card to fall back on ?

I was coming here to say the same thing as pp, do you have a credit card or an overdraft facility you could use and pay it back immediately on the 31st when he gets paid? And he needs to start looking for a new job ASAP, when a company is not paying in time, it seems it’ll only get worse

It sounds like the company is in serious trouble, he needs to start looking around for another job ASAP. Credit card could tie you over, but use it for the bare essentials.
