I have a partner but am not married, we have a son together. The house we live in is in my name.

If something happened to me am i correct to assume the house would pass to my son and partner would be trustee? (Have life insurance to pay house of.).

Only if you have a will to that effect with a trust set up

If i dont have a will what would happen then?

your partner would not necessarily be a trustee.

you need to make a will.

And if you marry your partner, there will be no inheritance tax between the two of you.

Who would be trustee if not his dad?

Ta but not getting married to avoid inheritance tax Just in case.

Who would be trustee if not his dad?

Your next of kin, i.e. parent.

Who have you named as beneficiary of the life insurance policy? Hopefully not your partner.

If you have a child and a house
MAKE A WILL
the best £200 you will EVER spend

make a will, my dad died when I was 9 without one, my mum was made a trustee of my bank account as she was my next of kin but i was allowed to access it, being 10 and my mum having to ask me to help her pay the bills was pretty horrible for her.
This was after waiting six months to get his private pension through probate and my mum was doing a degree at the time so it was a struggle at a time where we didn't need something extra to worry about on top of dad being dead.

I m married now with life insurance so not got a will sorted yet but once we have kids we ll get it done.

Do NOT die without a will.. either of you

Your some will get a % of the estate. I don't recall the total amount. ... look it up

The rest goes to other relatives so male your will. You can write it yourself if need be. Google it.

@mumblechum had a brilliant will writing service - Marlow Wills.

She is great at giving impartial advice.

His dad would be his trustee and your ds will get all your assets if you die intestate. But you may as well make a will.
