Will claiming on tenants liability insurance affect our future contents insurance premiums?

Hello everyone. We are about to buy a house for the first time (just waiting for solicitors now), and will be moving out of our current rental house.

We have tenants liability insurance which covers accidental damage. My son spilt purple paint on a cream carpet around Christmas creating a huge stain! We agreed we would replace the carpet with a similar one.

Does anyone know if it is worth claiming the carpet on our liability insurance? When we are in our own house we will get home and contents, and I am just worried that claiming on this insurance could affect premiums on our home and contents insurance when we move.

Thanks!

I think when applying for insurance they do ask if you've made a claim on any policy within the past 3 years.
