Life Insurance

I know this will sound ridiculous that at 55 i don't have life insurance. I have always found the whole thing very daunting and confusing. I have been told that even though i am over 50, that over 50 life insurance policy is not the best and should get a standard insurance. There are so many variable with insurance. Some if you die you only get back what you put in. Or it's so hard to get the money out of the companies and the payment and cover vary.

I am in good health, have one adult child and a partner.

What companies would you advise me to look at?

Why do you need life insurance? Is your adult child or partner dependent on you financially in some way? Have you made a will?

I have a policy with Legal & General only £10 a month so they might be worth looking at.

I would advise you to talk to a broker or financial adviser (I am one) and consider whether you actually have a need for life insurance in the first place. Once you've established that the need exists then consider what type of cover you need, how much of it, and what is realistically affordable. The adviser/broker will then source quotes to find you the best provider company to meet your needs and budget.
