Universal Credit

Hi there. My house is awful and the landlord is very unhelpful.
If I move to another property (private tenant) and the rent on the new property is higher than my current rent, will my Universal Credit increase?
I currently receive UC but am not sure if it will go up, if my rent does.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The rent allowance that you get on UC when private renting depends on the local housing allowance in your area for the number of bedrooms you are entitled to. If your rent exceeds that amount then you are expected to top up the rest.
