Chubrubtub I've had Appen email me with tasks. They usually include a link to the application.

I would think you do have to set up an invoice. Mine is always just for Nile and I can't remember how I did the first one. What happens when you click My Invoices on your login screen and create a new one? Is there an option on a drop down list for your project?

ChubRubTub · 10/08/2019 07:02

Thanks maragarita. There's no link to the project in their email. It just says to look in my list of projects, but it's not there.

If I try and set up an invoice, everything is blank. There are no projects in the drop down list.

Wolfff · 10/08/2019 07:08

@ChubRubTub
If it’s the $5 survey project they normally email to approve it in a couple of days and you can create the invoice then (the entry on the invoice is automatic).
There are some spam emails around. Raise a ticket if you can’t see the project.

ChubRubTub · 10/08/2019 07:26

Thanks Wolfff. I'll wait a few days and try again.

Do you have to invoice within a certain time limit?

Wolfff · 10/08/2019 08:36

I think you have to invoice on the 1st of the following month for stuff done the previous month. My Fletcher project (the recording one) took about 3 weeks to appear but just in time for invoicing.

MrsWombat · 10/08/2019 09:41

Flipping Nora! I'm a member of CSSC because I work in the public sector and they have a member get member referral which I've been flogging to all my mates and collegues on facebook. I knew a couple of them had signed up as they told me and asked my advice on places to visit, but I've just checked my account as I hadn't logged in for a while and I've got £50 worth of vouchers from referrals. I can convert them to cash too. Grin

So if any of you are public sector/military/nhs/education/civil service etc check it out as for a fiver a month you get free entry to English Heritage properties and Historic Royal Palace (Tower of London and Hampton Court etc) but lots of other discounts too. I use the electronic taste card a lot and also the cineworld. If you are organised (I'm not) you can buy gift vouchers for high street shops and supermarkets and get casback. Then once you've signed up and have your membership number start flogging it to your mates. (My membership number is 30261742 if you want to sign up but don't feel you have to, I would recommend it without and happy for mumsnet to remove the number Blush )

Bulb energy is also a good one to flog to your mates. They get £50 off their first bill and you get £50 off too.

Wolfff · 10/08/2019 10:34

That’s interesting, I’m a member of CSSC but i never really noticed the referrals! Thanks for the heads up.

MrsWombat · 10/08/2019 11:02

@Wolfff It's called Member Get Member on their website. Smile

Fizbo · 10/08/2019 16:47

Has anyone done Fletcher and Freeman on Appen? They both look the same but one is $50 and the other $100.
I know they will both take a lot longer then 3-4 hours but just curious as to what the difference is?

justtheonethen · 10/08/2019 17:44

@Fizbo Freeman is for the over 65s

maxbabi · 10/08/2019 17:45

Fizbo one is for over 65's.think the $100 one.
Just started today myself but you have to wait for approval apparently.

maxbabi · 10/08/2019 17:52

Anyone know if there is a cheat sheet for crisp? I got 17/20.

Fizbo · 10/08/2019 18:05

Ahh I see I think I was sent an email about that one. Thanks all

Wolfff · 10/08/2019 18:42

@maxbabi

there is no cheat sheet. Just remember you can pick more than one option for each one.

There are quite a few of us on this thread who scored 19/20 or 20/20 but have been waiting months, it is not at all guaranteed they will offer you anything even if you get a high enough score.

maxbabi · 10/08/2019 20:06

Thanks wollf

bananamuffin99 · 10/08/2019 23:00

Has anyone done the Truckee task on Appen? I have both Instagram and Facebook, but I don't want to do it if it posts stuff on my facebook.

pisspants · 10/08/2019 23:24

I heard about it through here but haven't heard anyone else talk about it since but I have just been accepted by cambly which is an online English conversation platform. It pays relatively well - I have made $12.50 by having 2 half hour chats with people in Saudi Arabia. I did the application about 6 weeks ago but once you've been accepted you can work straight away. It's totally flexible and you just put the hours in you can definitely do. You get paid on a Monday once you have over $20 to be paid out via PayPal.
If anyone is interested I think I have a referral code I could dig out.

Bemystarlord · 10/08/2019 23:53

@pisspants what sort of conversations do you have? What about? Is it market research?

pisspants · 11/08/2019 00:14

@Bemystarlord its English conversation so can be anything really. Theres lots of tips online but really the aim is to keep the conversation flowing as they want to practice English with a native speaker. Tonight I was discussing travel, food, family, care for old people and hobbies!

Wolfff · 11/08/2019 00:37

@bananamuffin99

I’m on Truckee. It does not involve posting on social media. You need to be active on Instagram to understand the job.

Otterses · 11/08/2019 08:36

@pisspants

Thank you for reminding me about Cambly! That could be a really good option for evenings where Crisp feels a bit much.

I'm wondering if there's a text based teaching sort of site... like Cambly/Cloudworkers combined...

Bemystarlord · 11/08/2019 08:40

@pisspants oh sounds interesting, if you have a referral i think i might check it out :)

pisspants · 11/08/2019 09:21

Here is my referral link though you dont need a referral to apply
www.cambly.com/en/tutors?referralCode=helen755
The pay is $0.17 per minute so is $10.20 per hour which is about £9? I booked 2 priority hours last night for that evening and made $12.50 through 2 x half hour slots and a few ones which were only a minute or 2. You have to be available for the whole hour you have booked but I just sat on my phone in between the calls so not too bad at all.
You need a laptop with webcam and a headset (I borrowed my sons xbox one!).
I cant remember what I put in my application but the application was not hard and although I have taught English before you dont need any experience.
When I looked yesterday there seemed to be lots of hours available day,evening and night. You can book in advance or at the time though it looked like more of the daytime slots had been taken, but late evening is what suits me best anyway.

BlackCatFan · 11/08/2019 10:55

Cambly sounds great - thanks @pisspants

BlackCatFan · 11/08/2019 11:09

@Otterses I also like the idea of text based teaching or something else like cloudworkers that isn't sexy chat (is there such a thing) I don't like the thought of people seeing me on webcam - I might scare them off!
