Child benefit - shared care of divorced couple - high earning mother

My ex husband and I are divorced and share the care of our children 50/50. We have no court orders around childcare and do not pay each other any money for child support - we both support our children equally through a joint account we pay into.

I am about to take a job earning 60k which means that I don't qualify for child benefit. Could my ex claim it instead? If we were married, as a family we wouldn't qualify, but we aren't married. We are properly divorced with a financial settlement (clean break) gone through the courts.

If you go on gov.uk (child benefits) there’s a section which you can select (further information) and gives you options on how you can contact them. Drop them an email or give them a call!

It occurred to me I could also do a big pension contribution. That's what I did this year.
