Ie after all bills mortgage food etc.

Money to do what you like with/save...

Wondering whether I have stretched myself with my outgoings.

About £1000k but savings / holidays / annuals costs would have to come from that. If we spent less on food we would have more!

Alarae · 09/07/2019 19:54

No kids here, but mortgage.

Technically it would be £950, however that isn't reality as I'm not overly strict with my budget in terms of going out, buying takeaways etc. Average month is probably £600 saved.

OH probably has another £500 disposable income, but obviously less saved as he spends on his garden hobby.

Rachelover40 · 09/07/2019 19:58

I honestly don't know, never thought about it. Maybe I should, bank statements would give me an idea.

huggybear · 09/07/2019 19:58

Why don't you tell us about your outgoings op?

RuthW · 09/07/2019 19:58

On a good month, £150.

NotYourHolidayDick · 09/07/2019 19:59

£30? Sometimes £100. Occasionally £1.27 and whatever I find in the car.

hopeishere · 09/07/2019 20:00

About £2500. I know I am very lucky and everyday I'm thankful. I used to worry about money all the time and its amazing to not be in that position.

summersadness1 · 09/07/2019 20:01

Ok well I feel a bit silly now as I have around 1000. There’s a lot of chat at work about savings and it just made me think!

At the minute not really anything. DH and I each have between 20-70 eur monthly but that's got to cover anything we need for the house, clothing and any unexpected costs. In reality although we do spend on the odd takeaway or so on it's not really enough to cover this.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2019 20:02
Hmm
avalanching · 09/07/2019 20:03

£2000 after main bills and food, but savings (short and long term) come from that. It's all assigned to something, only long term saving we do is over pay mortgage.

RiddleyW · 09/07/2019 20:03

About £1000k

I doubt anyone can beat this - £12m a year?

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 09/07/2019 20:04

I used to have £800 spare prechild which was mostly saved (for car/holiday/house)

Currently negative every month and very pleased I’ve got savings to top up outgoings with (I don’t want to work out how bad a situation it is)

hopeishere · 09/07/2019 20:09

I'm assuming £1000k means £1000! Or maybe not?!

Youngandfree · 09/07/2019 20:11

About 2,500 but we have no mortgage and very little bills. But we are currently saving for a new house build and I have sinking funds for car insurance and tax too.

DerelictWreck · 09/07/2019 20:26

£1000 but is just me, no partner or kids but goes a long way

Youngandfree · 09/07/2019 20:29

Forgot to say I am married with 2 dc

FrenchyQ · 09/07/2019 20:33

Between me and DH we have about 4k.....trying to save a fair bit of it as DH is not working at the moment and his money will dry up in January (hopefully he'll have a job by then)

MonstranceClock · 09/07/2019 20:40

Aaah, I don't even have enough to cover things that do need paying.

So sorry - totally missed that I had done that! Definitely £1000!

BlueSkiesLies · 09/07/2019 23:21

£2k after all household bills and regular commitments like Netflix, but before food and before any savings (excl pension)

boomboom1234 · 09/07/2019 23:36

I'm only working three days a week and am currently paying for two under threes at nursery so mine is low at the moment. I have about £650. I'm struggling to save any at the moment which is annoying.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 09/07/2019 23:49

It has taken nigh on thirty years to have any disposable, the mortgage is gone, we have a small one for home improvements (will be gone in 22 months)

If we don't over pay, we have a spare £800, plus my part time salary of £1,000 for 18-20 hours a week.

So technically nigh on £2k, in reality....a lot of it gets spent, not on rubbish, but it just gets spent. I pay for our annual holiday, nice apartment, easy flights vis a vis luggage etc... Meals out in the winter, trips to nice country pubs with the teen and the teen partner in the summer... Kind of money wasted, but lots of memories being made, one G&T and they sing like canaries,(nothing important) and you feel like you are connecting again.

Not every month, but it is nice after thirty years most of them hard (re money ) to be finally fluid.

NonTraditionalFeelings · 01/08/2019 00:19

I'm actually amazed at people's disposable income! Even when I was married and we were both working we didn't have that much. Do you all have very highly paid jobs?

loudnoises1 · 01/08/2019 00:37

About £1300.

This time last year it was £400! Some serious budget shifting has been done in that time.
