Can they bill me for 3 months Invisalign?

So I got recently got braces fitted. I had been to the practice for consultation (back in April) & payed up front. I came back a few weeks later for scans & was told I would be given the pics so I could decide if I wanted to go ahead. I heard nothing for weeks & the lady dealing with me was uncontactable. Wouldn’t call back when scheduled to & ignored my emails. I hadn’t been to the bank to set up my payment plan as I had not received the images. When I finally got the images I agreed to go ahead with having the braces fitted.

They were fitted at the start of June & I have just had my second appointment for change of retainer today. I called a few weeks ago to ask about setting up payment but they told me just to see the coordinator at my next appointment. I explained that I was concerned that I might be asked to pay 2months in one go if I waited, to which I was told that would not happen & that they would never expect 2 months payment at once.

Today When I went to pay I was asked to pay 3 months upfront which totals nearly £500! I couldn’t afford to pay it & tried to explain the situation to receptionist who was very polite & said the coordinator (who previously failed to communicate with me) will call me back tomorrow to sort it out. I’m really worried about the situation & annoyed at the poor communication.

What are your thoughts?

Whats the total cost of your treatment? Surely the £500 will be a large chuck of that paid off.

Why didn't you put the money aside to pay for the first two months even though they hadn't set up a payment plan? You must have realised that at some point you would have to pay for the consultations and treatments you have had already. They weren't going to forget it were they!

Desmondo2016 · 03/07/2019 09:00

Yeah you've obviously spent the money that you would have had for the instalments so i would say it's tough

Yes they can ask you for 3 months payments. It's not really 3 months upfront though, it's at least 2 back payments.

Why have you been spending the money? Surely you just keep it by as tehnically you are behind with payments

SoyDora · 04/07/2019 19:44

Well the sensible thing would have been to put aside the payments even if you weren’t being asked for them.
I don’t think anyone can answer this, it will depend on the coordinator. I imagine they can ask you for 3 months of payment, as you’ll have had 3 months of treatment. He may be understanding though.
