Tax credit renewals - anyone heard back?

I've been checking the HMRC app every hour day for the last three weeks but still nothing. Has anyone heard back yet? I renewed at the beginning of June.

I was on mat leave for a decent chunk of last year and so my pay was considerably less what they say it was (exactly what I had declared it would be, but there you go) so what I get currently is leaving me £200 short every month.

Really hoping I hear soon because it's miserable being skint.

I've just come off the phone.

She said they are trialling a new system where basically 'robots' are doing our renewals and any differences will be flagged. She said the differences are so blatantly obvious that she could cry and hopes they stop the trial as its causing alot of upset and clearly cannot replace a human.

She has accepted my figure and fingers crossed

SpideyMom · 06/08/2019 09:35

Could be up to another 8 weeks though. She said she hopes not but that's what they have to advise

Ozziewozzie · 06/08/2019 09:50

@tisonlymeagain
But that’s only the case up until Jan. What about after then. Seriously, it’s become way more complex than it used to be.
If they are making mistakes and over/underpaying, how on earth can we be expected to fathom it all out.
I hope they’ve really cocked up this year and owe us all thousands Grin

sleepinginthegarden · 06/08/2019 10:00

@SpideyMom exactly the same as you flagged the difference up between rti income and actual income due to pension.

Also weirdly asked for my self employed income, advised her that i have never been self employed and havnt been in any employment for the last 6/7 years, she thought it was strange why it would ask that but amended it.

Stated that it can take a further 8 weeks to complete too.

What a mess just hope she has put it all through correct and it isn't going to keep flagging the income up as a problen.

SpideyMom · 06/08/2019 10:06

It's unbelievable isn't it @sleepinginthegarden

I hope too this will be it. But annoyed is an understatement.

But not gonna lie, fancy trialling a new 'non human' method for something so bloody crucial. How stupid

jenniuol · 06/08/2019 10:22

I had that text this morning too. Currently on hold waiting to speak to someone. I’m so furious. I’ve already waited over 8 weeks. For it to take another 8 is a joke.

SpideyMom · 06/08/2019 10:30

This stupid trial needs to be stopped. They are apparently suspending the text messages as it is causing alot of upset.

But I agree. 8 more weeks is going to be horrendous. Imagine if we made them wait for their overpayments to be repaid

SpideyMom · 06/08/2019 23:12

I wish I could stop checking my app SadSadSadSadSadSad

sleepinginthegarden · 07/08/2019 08:47

@SpideyMom im the same checking it all the time but nothing seems to change.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 09:13

I've got a horrible feeling we will be waiting another 8 weeks Sad

sleepinginthegarden · 07/08/2019 09:35

I have that feeling too, i really cant wait for it to be done and finished.

I really could just sit and cry everything is getting on top of me and my anxiety is through the roof, and this is just adding to all the current stress i have at the moment.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 09:42

I feel exactly the same way. Its really affecting my mood

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 12:00

My apps changed and now I have no more payment's due. What the actual fuck

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 12:02

They've stopped my payments as my declaration wasn't completed in time

sleepinginthegarden · 07/08/2019 12:31

Are you joking? Have you rung them? This is now getting beyond a joke, you have renewed online, via post and via phone, along with the phone call yesterday too.

What on earth is going on, this is really unfair on all claimants, do they not realise in an ideal world none of us would claim but in reality we are claiming because we need the extra income to survive.

Just checked mine no change but guessing its only a matter of time before they do the same to me and thousands of other claimants too.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 12:56

I've complained. Was just told that it's because I've not completed it in time. My app and desktop account are both showing as still processing but say no more payment's are due to me.

I've been asked to wait 48 hours and call back whilst they look into it

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 12:59

I was due a payment tomorrow as I get paid weekly. Not anymore

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 14:40

Apps updated and its all wrong. And no details of what I am due from next year as I was underpaid. Apparently only getting CTC from September top. I could cry.

Chakano · 07/08/2019 14:45

I've heard back, did mine over the phone, much quicker.
just make sure you tell them you have changes then they'll put you through to an operator, otherwise you are directed to the website.
I heard back within a few days.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 14:54

Can anyone tell me how underpayments are dealt with please? Will these show in the app? Or are they dealt with separately

sleepinginthegarden · 07/08/2019 15:25

My app has updated too, payments have gone up but still offering for me to renew. Payments are also not what i have calculated with online calculatord etc..

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 16:04

Were you due an underpayment for last year too? @sleepinginthegarden

sleepinginthegarden · 07/08/2019 16:39

No not due one from last year, but payments decreased when renewal was sent. Ive sat and worked it all out with payments that i have had and payments due and there is a difference of about £250 for the year between online calculators and actual payments ive either had or due.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 16:56

I'm about the get all my paperwork out and try and make sense of it. Based on what I was paid last year and what I earned I was underpaid but there I now knowledge of that in my app. Its alot of money.

My payments showing today are less than I should be getting.

I can't get my head around it. As I've taken all the elements I am due. Calculated my 41% over the 6420 and taken that from my annual entitlement. Then divided that by the weeks. It doesn't make sense when they tell you what you are due and it doesn't reflect that way when it's processed.

SpideyMom · 07/08/2019 17:28

OK so I've just worked it out. I'm hoping my app just needs updating as from September I'm not due any WTC. Anyway if I work on the basis that I will be paid the same for the rest of the year as the next few payments then I am just over 250 down on the year.

I've defo been underpaid for last year. Luckily last year there was no overpayment so they have defo underpaid me. Does anyone know if this is dealt separately from the renewal, as in will I show in app or will it be confirmed in writing?
