Tax credit renewals - anyone heard back?

I've been checking the HMRC app every hour day for the last three weeks but still nothing. Has anyone heard back yet? I renewed at the beginning of June.

I was on mat leave for a decent chunk of last year and so my pay was considerably less what they say it was (exactly what I had declared it would be, but there you go) so what I get currently is leaving me £200 short every month.

Really hoping I hear soon because it's miserable being skint.

@SpideyMom any news?

@Toni2five Do you know your payments changed on your app, did it then take a while for it to update from processing to complete? Bcos my scheduled payments changed for the next 8 weeks yesterday lunch time and it says on my next payment day 'one off payment' (it's a few pence) to help me get the right amount because of a recent change, but it still says everything is processing and not complete.

Can't wait for my paperwork to arrive so I know if and how much I owe from last year.

SpideyMom · 01/08/2019 11:08

I've already checked this morning and and thought I'd actually go online and check again before I responded. Unfortunately no change for me Sad

I hate that money is causing so much misery and stress. I've been a single parent my whole son's life. Money has never been easy, but by not having much it has made me value more important things, so money doesn't mean alot to me. However at the moment money is affecting us as its taken us from living on the breadline to way under and I hate that money is having such an affect on us. Makes me sad and stressed which then triggers my anxiety. It's a horrible cycle to be trapped in.

I really hope it happens soon for me. And I am so pleased for others that they are finally getting movement on their awards. Xx

Bugger me. I renewed at the start of July and got it all back a week ago. Seems I was lucky...

Toni2five · 01/08/2019 11:34

@danni0509 hi mine still says processing, I have payments showing until the 27th August but that payment is only saying child tax not working tax, but the advisor assured me it was prob the system needing to update as everything is really busy x

danni0509 · 01/08/2019 12:04

@Toni2five thanks v much x

ChocolateTea · 01/08/2019 12:09

I ended my tax credits on June 3rd as my partner moved in. My renewal now says I owe them £780 from 18-19 due to overpayment. I have no idea why. My figures were correct every year, I think they don't know their arse from their elbow if I'm honest.

I'm not due anything and they didn't send a payment demand, so I'll wait until I get one. And then they'll get £5 a week. I have no clue how I can be overpaid for that year, when I declared everything as it happened. They reckon its my childcare, and say I shouldn't have been paid it, but as a single mum on £18k a year, I can't understand that as I was only claiming £30 a week, same as previous year when I declared £20k.

ChocolateTea · 01/08/2019 12:10

Was also funny that my renewal pack didn't say anything about over payment, and indeed my interim payments to June went UP, and they'd had my income from HMRC, so I smell a rat.

SpideyMom · 01/08/2019 12:33

Oh no @ChocolateTea do you keep all your letters from them? Would you have the one they sent last april/May time where it gives you your entitlement for the 18/19 tax year? It basically states the full amount you are entitled to then reduces it by 41% over the threshold giving you your annual amount. Then search your bank account online and see what you've been paid out for the year.

Hope it gets sorted.

ChocolateTea · 01/08/2019 12:55

@SpideyMom yeah, I have everything, but tbh I'm failing to see how with nothing my end changing, and them determining the payout each week, how it can happen

My gut feeling is they've removed my entitlement last year for wtc childcare help as it would only be for single parents, and now I'm not single. But he moved in on June 3rd this year, so shouldn't affect last year. I can't face ringing them tbh, not this time of year.

SpideyMom · 01/08/2019 13:10

I hate that they work on previous years, but as you say your change happened this year so I can't see how you can owe them.

Have you been paid anything this year at all, up until your change? I know it says last year but could it be for that?

sleepinginthegarden · 02/08/2019 10:48

Hi i was on the other thread regarding renewals, but obviously this one seems more active now, no change here still waiting for it to be processed.

But has anyone else still got the message saying that it can be done upto the 31st july and that renewal is awaiting processing?

Also my payments dates show as i have no more payments after 22nd august(weekly), there was one on till 29th august, this is due to eldest being 16 but they are wanting to stay on at 6th form, so need to update then once they get their results and secure their place, but still should have a payment on 29th as they pay upto 31st august once they reach 16, and it was there the other day, has anyone else got this on theirs?

SpideyMom · 02/08/2019 11:09

I have that message too. Which I do find odd given then that the deadline has now passed.

No change for me unfortunately. But my payments are showing up to the end of September on my app.

danni0509 · 02/08/2019 11:38

Same message is still on mine renew until 31st July and it all still says processing, although my payments did change for future payments 2 days ago and i have got a few pence one off payment (don't worry I won't spend it all at once) coming next week on normal payment day it's just been added on top of weekly amount, so I assumed it had been renewed with payments changing. Who knows.

I'm not checking anymore, I'll wait for paperwork.

@sleepinginthegarden does your says processing or ready for processing? Mine said ready for processing for 3 weeks until it changed to processing last weekend and it's said that since.

danni0509 · 02/08/2019 11:40

P.s forgot to add @sleepinginthegarden my weekly payments show right up until the end of September on the app, can you phone them and see what's going on?

sleepinginthegarden · 02/08/2019 11:40

Yeah i thought it would of updated yesterday, but still giving me the option to change renewal details etc... although ive not clicked through to change any details etc.. so not sure if its just the system hasn't updated yet.

Just doubled checked to be sure, payments on system show last one as being 22nd august, paper work show last one as 29th august, really hoping its just system not updating and that its not a sign that im going to be asked to move over to universal credit

Dreading ringing them to let them know when eldest secures place at 6th form as i know its going to be busy, plus because it will go through as a change on system they will produce a one off payment and then weekly payment will go down again, which if renewal hasn't been processed by then i will be get even less a week, when already on reduced payments as it is.

sleepinginthegarden · 02/08/2019 11:50

@danni0509 it says ready for processing, so obviously awaiting for it to be worked yet, this is due to having to minus partners pension off of his wages, due to it not being a standard pension where it is taken before tax, it gets taken after tax then pension provider claims tax relief from hmrc.

There is only one payment missing on system but i will know on 22nd as to whether eldest has secured their place at 6th form, but they will be staying in education either 6th form or college, so will update them then, its due to if they wasnt to stay on in education we wouldnt be entitled to any tax credits after that as my partner would earn over the qualifying threshold.

danni0509 · 02/08/2019 11:52

@sleepinginthegarden toni2five dc is leaving school & has had similar situation down the thread.. her payments are only showing until the end of August. But she phoned and the advisor assured her it was bcos things are updating as they are so busy.

danni0509 · 02/08/2019 11:54

Yeah mine said that for just over 3 weeks until it changed to processing. Hopefully yours will change to processing v soon.

SpideyMom · 02/08/2019 13:01

Mines been showing as processing for over 7 weeks. Its taking ages

SpideyMom · 02/08/2019 13:25

Just been told its taking between 8 and 10 weeks, and if its taking longer it means your claim is having to be thoroughly checked

danni0509 · 02/08/2019 13:47

@SpideyMom

What's taking between 8-10 weeks? ordinary renewals? and if it's longer than that it's being thoroughly checked? Or if it's taking between 8-10 weeks it's being thoroughly checked? Sorry not sure what you mean.

Either way, you would think it would be quicker than that. Especially when people like yourself are down £50 a week for months on end waiting.

SpideyMom · 02/08/2019 13:55

Sorry I meant it is taking them 8 to 10 weeks to process a renewal (from when they received it) that is straight forward.
Any renewals that are more complicated are having to be thoroughly checked and taking longer.

I did say I've sent you all relevant documents to support my declared income. I was told based on that it is likely it will happen soon. I am doubtful X

sleepinginthegarden · 02/08/2019 15:19

@danni0509 yeah im hoping its just because they are behind, considering that its still offering for me to renew online 2 days after deadline im going to say its due to that anyway

@SpideyMom have you spoken to them today and thats the information you haven been given? If so thats a long time for a standard renwal.

SpideyMom · 02/08/2019 16:06

Yes I spoke to them earlier today

ineedawin · 02/08/2019 17:26

Mine is on "auto renewal" but still when I log on it just says on auto renewal I have confirmed no change but been like this for about 8 weeks
