Tax credit renewals - anyone heard back?

I've been checking the HMRC app every hour day for the last three weeks but still nothing. Has anyone heard back yet? I renewed at the beginning of June.

I was on mat leave for a decent chunk of last year and so my pay was considerably less what they say it was (exactly what I had declared it would be, but there you go) so what I get currently is leaving me £200 short every month.

Really hoping I hear soon because it's miserable being skint.

I didn't realise auto renewal existed. Suppose it wouldn't have suited me though as I had to declare a lower income

ineedawin · 02/08/2019 17:29

@IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod

I had the same as you, did you just confirm on line no changes?

ineedawin · 02/08/2019 17:30

@SpideyMom yes I'm quite lucky as payments have stayed pretty much the same on auto renewal but still not finalised on line

ineedawin · 02/08/2019 17:32

@OpenYourEyes

You say you are on auto renewal, does it show as finalised on line?

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 03/08/2019 13:13

Yes, I just did what it said but there was no mention of renewal, just me agreeing to my commitments

SpideyMom · 03/08/2019 16:57

The more I check my app for updates the more I am very doubtful my renewal will be finalised within the 10 weeks I was told yesterday.

Tomorrow is 8 weeks since renewing which should mean I have 2 weeks to go.

I go away in 2 weeks. So I will go away either, finally having put this to bed (until next year) or totally fed up that's its actually taking months to process something I feel should be very straightforward.

I am pleased that others who have renewed had there's finalised within weeks, but it doesn't make sense to me how renewals that are sent after mine are being finalised before mine. Surely they all go into a workload in the order they arrive to get worked? I get that I've had to declare a lower income but I have submitted all proof for so it isn't like that need to investigate further as all documentation is already with them. Please don't think I'm bitter towerds those that have had theirs completed. I'm just wondering how they must distribute them.

I know I've said it plenty of times across a few tax credits threads but I really did not expect it to take as long as it is. Baring in mind they originally sent my pack at the beginning of May and my second pack at the end of May it's been a really long process Sad

I renewed online at beginning of July. It updated on the app about 4 days later. I was surprised, took months last year.

Hi user011291 sorry to bother you again, my friend has just texted me to say tax credits have sent her a letter saying she has reported a change and she's no longer entitled to tax credits and owes over £3k, she's a single mum who is a self employed beautician she earns under £10k and got her final year end figures from her accountant and did the renewal online, what would cause her credit to stop? All we can think is she made a mistake when doing the renewal, she can't even get onto her online account they have closed that aswell, any info would be grateful, thanks x

Toni2five · 04/08/2019 20:02

user011291 sorry she hasn't reported any changes just done her renewal xx

slipperywhensparticus · 04/08/2019 20:05

Ring them tomorrow sounds like they dont think she is entitled to her tax credits like she isnt working enough hours?

Mine isnt due back till November apparently they also say they think I owe them but they made two extra payments to me this year so I'm calling bullshit plus I'm going to UC soon as I've lost my job so they will have to accept lower repayments back 🤷‍♀️

Toni2five · 04/08/2019 20:23

Mine said November but the advisor said that's an error and to ignore, she is going to call tomorrow x

SteadyAreYouReady · 04/08/2019 20:27

I renewed about 28th and got the confirmation of award on Friday .

danni0509 · 04/08/2019 20:28

Toni have you had your paperwork yet? Did yours update to completed? Mine never! Still says processing LOL

danni0509 · 04/08/2019 20:29

Mine still says I can renew until the 31st July Grin no idea!

Toni2five · 04/08/2019 20:48

No paperwork yet but I always get the changes and new payments way before the award is sent and yeh it still says processing!! Prob change again! I just want to win the lottery and never have to deal with all this again!! 😂

SpideyMom · 04/08/2019 20:54

It's a right mess. Never known it this bad.

Mines still stuck in processing. Its been exactly 8 weeks today. If they come back and tell me I'm no longer entitled I will be absolutely dumbfounded. People are reporting so many errors in their finalised award. It's worrying

danni0509 · 04/08/2019 21:05

Toni did the advisor you spoke too the other day say your award was finalised, complete etc?

I phoned Thursday to ask about the processing thing and the advisor said she didn't know why it still said that, but my renewal was completed the day before. apparently there had been an issue to start with that held it up, she wasn't sure what but said it was complete now and this years award is actual, no longer provisional.

I think the issue would of been when I renewed in June I put in dh income, then mine is carers allowance and I added that to it but put this years higher rate instead of last years rate, I usually just times the rate by 52 and give the figure, fairly simple but only if you do the correct years rate, lol. always confuses me working on the year before. So I realised and 10 minutes after the first, recalculated and submitted it again, so there end they would of got 2 from me.... but no box to add info in to let them know the mistake I had made. I just figured they would of understood what I had done, it made sense to me after all 😆

I'm deleting the hmrc app now. Until this time next year of course....! Haha.

danni0509 · 04/08/2019 21:06

Bless you spideymom! you have been waiting ages.......

Toni2five · 04/08/2019 21:34

Well I'm not sure if they've gone on my original MAT leave figure or the one I went through with an advisor on the phone the other week so mine does have to potential to change! I think mine still says processing due to my 16yr old leaving school in September as my payments are only showing until end of August x

SpideyMom · 05/08/2019 10:09

Well I called again this morning and got a bollocking for contacting them as 'you only sent your completed declaration to us on 27th July so we won't be responding to any queries regarding your renewal until 8 weeks have passed so please don't contact us again'.

Really AngryAngryAngry so why send me a confirmation text and email to say you received it way back in June.

I am absolutely furious

danni0509 · 05/08/2019 10:12

Spidey what the hell, do you think that's when they received your additional documentation you sent in?

danni0509 · 05/08/2019 10:12
