Tax credit renewals - anyone heard back?

Divgirl2 · 01/07/2019 10:59

I've been checking the HMRC app every hour day for the last three weeks but still nothing. Has anyone heard back yet? I renewed at the beginning of June.

I was on mat leave for a decent chunk of last year and so my pay was considerably less what they say it was (exactly what I had declared it would be, but there you go) so what I get currently is leaving me £200 short every month.

Really hoping I hear soon because it's miserable being skint.

No that makes sense. I'd be the same I'd want to know either way. They just seem to drop it on you.
Back in May I have my payments dropped, a few weeks later dropped again. And then again. I am down £200 a month roughly and it's hard

SpideyMom · 30/07/2019 12:19

@Divgirl2 may I ask, were you notified via email/text that it was complete or was it through checking your app?

Divgirl2 · 30/07/2019 12:42

@spideymom it was just though checking the app and the website. I'm convinced it's an error though - it was only resubmitted yesterday

I have NC for this.

I work for HMRC, and deal with Tax Credits.

As a PP has said, we have all been pulled off our usual lines of work and put onto dealing with customer renewals. A lot of us, such as myself, usually do back office work rather than deal with renewals. We have had thousands of customers trying to renew their Tax Credits over the phone today alone.

A "partial capture" renewal means that you have submitted your end of year figures, but it hasn't been processed yet. It doesn't mean you have submitted the wrong figures, or have left any details out, etc. It just means it hasn't been finalised on our side.

Because we have all been pulled off our usual work, it means that any renewals which have already been sent in have been put onto the back burner and into a worklist to be finalised. They won't be looked at until later this week, at the very earliest. That's why there's around an 8 week wait - it may not be the case for everyone, but it may be the case for some. Your Tax Credits may finalise before that 8 weeks is up, but it could be that amount of time before you get an award notice from us.

@user011291 that's v kind of you to reply. Thanks

Toni2five · 30/07/2019 13:58

@user011291 my online payments have changed today but for some reason on the 27th August I am only getting a payment for child tax no working is showing, could just this be the system updating? Thanks

SpideyMom · 30/07/2019 14:04

Oh I wish mine would bloody update

user011291 · 30/07/2019 14:25

Hi Toni2five,

Are you still working the qualifying hours to get WTC?

Has your income changed? Any increase to your income may push you over the threshold for WTC and it would reduce to £0.

Toni2five · 30/07/2019 15:25

Hi @user011291 no I work 16 hours, and earn under £10k, I was on MAT leave last year, I've called them and he confirmed I am getting working and tax credit, it may be a system error as they are really busy but from September I am still getting working and tax credits, they reduce slightly due to teen leaving school,l x

user011291 · 30/07/2019 16:47

Glad you got sorted, Toni. It could be that you are owed some money and so your payment on 27th August is reflecting that.

Toni2five · 30/07/2019 19:15

Hi @user011291 I've got an extra payment on Friday and the next few weeks my payments are quite a bit higher so I think that's the extra money due to me! Thank you for replying x

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 19:21

@Toni2five that took a while to sort, how long did it take to do your renewal in total? Was there any particular reason it took so long.

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 19:21

Glad it's all done for you btw.

SaxxedtotheMax · 30/07/2019 19:28

God, I have just had my hours reduced at work to 24hrs from 30hrs, Ive just checked online and my WTC have been reduced to 00.49p a week.

I think I will have to put up with it over the summer and go full time in Sept.

SaxxedtotheMax · 30/07/2019 19:30

user011291 Also a thank you for letting everyone know what happening. I bet its mayhem Sad

Roll on Aug!

Toni2five · 30/07/2019 19:45

danni0509 it took nearly 3 months but I had MAT leave to sort and my son leaves school in September so they had to work that out aswel xx

OpenYourEyes · 30/07/2019 20:11

Mine have auto renewed this year but I remember the year I was selected for concentrix checks and how awful it was so just wanted to add my support to the thread.

lulabaloo · 31/07/2019 07:47

danni0509 normally wait about 8 weeks. But i don't pay nursery fee's or any child care any more as me and husband have both been able to change our shifts to work around school. So ours was probably easy and straight forward this time.

SpideyMom · 31/07/2019 10:41

Already checked my app 6 times this morning. Why I am doing it to myself I really don't know :-(
Bill day tomorrow so I'm really not looking forward to being broke straight away

danni0509 · 31/07/2019 14:23

I logged on and it says renewal still processing all looks exactly the same like it hasn't been done yet, but when I go onto next page to view payments it says my payments have changed to a few quid less a week.. it didn't say that last night.

Does that mean mines been done then but just not updated to completed yet? Does anyone know.

Anyway I'm ok with a few pound less a week, i expected to have payments slightly dropped. I'll have to wait for paper work to see what's what.

@SpideyMom can you check on your next 8 payments see if there is any difference with that. Hope yours is really really soon. I'll keep checking on here for your update!

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 31/07/2019 14:39

This thread is making me panic
I haven't had anything that says renewal. I got a notification to log on and confirm nothing had changed, that was a while ago. I did that
Would that be the renewal?

danni0509 · 31/07/2019 14:42

@IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod I would log on to your account or ring and check, today is the last day renewals can be done, so best to be on the safe side because if you haven't renewed you can still do it today but if not then your payments will stop. X

SpideyMom · 31/07/2019 14:59

Today is the cut off so call them to check or they will stop your payments.

I've checked every part of the app. I'm sick of the thing lol. My payments and future payments are the same.

What annoys me is in April my payments changed to what they should be but then got reduced when my pack was sent. So I know what I should be getting. I guess that's what's making me more frustrated, as I know I don't owe anything so the way I am being paid is not correct at all. It could be so easily avoided though if my employer declared my contributions when they declared my income. They told the HMRC that I have a non net pension arrangement, which is why tax credits have requested the details. But if they can inform them of that, why not just inform them of what I've contributed too.

If money wasn't so tight waiting wouldn't be such an issue but unfortunately it is. So the wait continues. Can't wait to report when it's been done though

danni0509 · 31/07/2019 15:16

I would just keep checking, I checked last night and this morning and there was no change then after lunch today it had changed x

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 31/07/2019 16:58

danni0509
Thanks for your reply
I have logged on. It gives me a date for an Aug payment and there is nothing in my to do list
So it seems I did what I had to to renew, hopefully
