Tax credit renewals - anyone heard back?

Divgirl2 · 01/07/2019 10:59

I've been checking the HMRC app every hour day for the last three weeks but still nothing. Has anyone heard back yet? I renewed at the beginning of June.

I was on mat leave for a decent chunk of last year and so my pay was considerably less what they say it was (exactly what I had declared it would be, but there you go) so what I get currently is leaving me £200 short every month.

Really hoping I hear soon because it's miserable being skint.

Mines close to £2500 difference so I can't let it go as it makes a big difference unfortunately

SpideyMom · 23/07/2019 12:27

So I see that the UC switch over is finally beginning. I wonder if this is why it has taken so long, and maybe it is likely we are going to get moved over? Just a thought

danni0509 · 27/07/2019 21:03

@SpideyMom @Divgirl2 have either have you had any luck yet?

SpideyMom · 27/07/2019 21:50

No I haven't. I ended up calling the other day as its been 7 week's now since renewing. At first I was told their system said partially captured. I asked why it is only now that she was telling me this. I also told her that its impossible as I've sent it in the post too so I've sent it twice. She then checked their postal system and confirmed everything had been received and scanned on and my declaration is now in a workbasket to be work. The main workbasket though, not an individuals. All she told me was she was sorry, but could not give me an idea of when it will be done.

I'm so so so desperate now. I still stupidly check my app multiple times a day

danni0509 · 29/07/2019 10:35

Mines taken 5 weeks so far, it's usually done and dusted in no more than a week, only 5 days last year!

Still not heard anything.

Ive been checking my app daily.

It's gone from 'ready for processing' to 'processing' yesterday if that makes any difference?

I've a strong feeling we owe them money now.. and would just like to know where I stand, as when I owed them a couple of years ago they took £50 a week from my award to pay it back. Could really do without that!

danni0509 · 29/07/2019 10:36

Also says should be completed by 23rd August on one page then the next page says the 30th November..

Divgirl2 · 29/07/2019 15:01

Mine is due to be done by tomorrow, but still nothing. I'm going to call them if I haven't heard by tomorrow lunchtime.

I'd call today but Mondays are the absolute worst times to call call centres.

OP posts:
Divgirl2 · 29/07/2019 15:15

Decided to chance it and call - same as you @SpideyMom it was a partial capture and she had to submit it again. She said it'll take a few more weeks

OP posts:
danni0509 · 29/07/2019 15:27

@Divgirl2 did yours go from ready for processing to processing at any point? Thanks

Divgirl2 · 29/07/2019 15:35

@danni0509 It's been at "processing" for about 8 weeks now. I actually don't remember it ever being at "ready for processing".

danni0509 · 29/07/2019 15:46

Fingers crossed yours is sorted ASAP divgirl.

I'll give mine another week, it's been 5 weeks now so I'll wait until week 6 and ring and find out why it's taking so long. (I know they say 8 weeks, but I've never waited anything like that before.)

Hopefully it will get done at some point this week so I don't have to phone though.

(wishful thinking!)

lulabaloo · 29/07/2019 15:52

Yeah i renewed in June and heard back a couple of weeks later, i was quite surprised as we are normally waiting ages.

SpideyMom · 29/07/2019 18:58

Thought I'd check my app again before I came on. No change... STILL!!!

The partial capture annoys me. I wonder how many people are awaiting their renewals to be finalised and will be told the same thing.

If you ask me its absolute nonsense. The partial capture is somewhere on their side as absolutely nothing was left unchecked and unanswered by me. I bloody well went over and over and over it to be sure it was all correct and completed. The only thing I can think of is that there was only one place to put details of my lower income but nowhere to support why it was lower than what was declared to the HMRC. Seemed odd to me that you can state a different amount but dont have to give reasons for it. The renewal online was ridiculous if you ask me, but maybe that's because I had to make changes. There was nowhere to support your reason for declaring something different.

Myself and Divgirl2 renewed around the same time, a few days apart so I am coming up to 8 weeks myself at the weekend. I honestly never thought it would take this long. Especially as I have renewed twice by completing it by post with all my supporting documents which she confirmed has all been scanned on ready to be worked.

The lady I spoke to seems to think that after 31st there will be more people on renewals to get them finalised. Personally as much as I've been told to ignore the 30th November stated in my TC account, I'm more inclined to believe that to be more the case with how things are going.

I really hope things get sorted for us all soon.

danni0509 · 29/07/2019 19:24

@lulabaloo how long do you usually wait for your renewal roughly? Glad yours is sorted this time around.

@SpideyMom what a joke! I read either on this thread or the other you posted on that your going on holiday soon, I hope it's sorted for then so you have some additional funds!

SpideyMom · 29/07/2019 19:42

Yeh I go in a few weeks so I highly doubt it will be done for then. I've waiting for this holiday for well over 2 years. The renewal couldn't have come at a worser time but then again it should have been done by now. I'm rely on borrowing from family and my credit card. I actually hate using my Cc as I'm trying so hard to get debt down but it's just increasing

SpideyMom · 29/07/2019 20:33

Not gonna lie I feel overwhelmed tonight and upset about everything.

I'm not blaming tax credits alone but it doesn't help adding to life's stresses.

I got paid today and as of the 1st the majority of it will leave my account. Then 5 days after my last few bills will go out and then I am left with virtually nothing. I've been proud that not matter what has happened in life I have always met my debt repayments but it's getting increasingly hard to maintain, especially with tax credits ongoing. I think I need to look at my options to reduce the amount I pay out each month. I've fought it for so long as I want to get the debt out the way but we are being left with next to nothing.

Worrying isn't helping my ongoing stomach issues either Sad I wish I didnt worry so much

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 09:26

Hi. What does partially captured even mean? never heard of it.

I phoned this morning (20 minutes on hold) got through to a lovely enough guy but he admitted he's been drafted in because they are so busy and he said he wasn't really sure what he was doing Hmm

He went through everything, said all looks ok with mine and my partners income figures etc, and was not sure what the hold up was, maybe just how busy they are.

Then he said literally just before I put the phone down that it says here partially captured. So I said oh I've read about that recently (on here!)

He said he wasn't sure what to do so I said go get someone and ask and then he said no one was available. So he said maybe if I press this button here it will work and then he said right I'm hoping that's done something, keep checking your end and phone back in a week or two when we are less busy if not...

Not sure what to make of that.

SpideyMom · 30/07/2019 09:40

Clearly there are big issues on their side. I can't understand the partially captured either. I wonder how many renewals are saying the same thing and people arent aware.

It's also very concerning that he didn't really know what he was doing. Though it does make sense. I've read another lady had her finalised award come back in the post stating the incorrect income figure still despite giving her actual income details.

Problem is we can do absolutely nothing but wait and hope its done soon and properly. This has been the worst year by a mile. The concentrix check was a tough wait though I kinda expected that and knew why so it was easier to accept. This renewal should not be taking as long as it is

Divgirl2 · 30/07/2019 10:54

Mine now says complete! Should get a notice within 2 weeks. Payments haven't updated on the app though.

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 11:11

That's great news divgirl.

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 11:14

@Divgirl2 did they even tell you what partial capture meant when you phoned yesterday?

SpideyMom · 30/07/2019 11:15

Great news Divgirl2. Bet you are so relieved

Toni2five · 30/07/2019 11:34

I called twice over last couple of weeks and they still hadn't inputting my MAT leave in correctly so I went through it all yesterday with a guy and he manually put it in, he said that should be it now and I should get an award within a couple of weeks but can take 8 weeks! I renewed beginning of May but still going on, though I've had/got a few changes, I was on MAT leave and my son is leaving school September so he won't be on the claim any more so maybe that's why it's taking a while, getting a bit obsessed with looking at it!!! Just hope I'm owed a bit back! x

SpideyMom · 30/07/2019 11:44

May is absolutely terrible. What's going on?

I never had the option of her doing it on the phone last week, though I was hoping it to be the case. I was just told it was a case of waiting.

I'm constantly checking too, and it's affecting my mood. I think I've worked out how to calculate them which means I am owed money from last year and am currently being underpaid too. So I'd like it sorted as soon as possible

danni0509 · 30/07/2019 11:55

I'm not even owed anything, I owe them. (The longer they leave it the more we owe which makes no sense!) also due a reduction in payments for this tax year.

But I'm obsessively checking too...

Every time I pick my phone up in fact. Hmm I need to stop! I know nothing is going to have changed in 25 minutes but can't help myself Grin

Just want to know how much they'll be taking, as money is tight as it is (I'm not working - ds has SN and I claim carers for him, only dh works) so need to get my head around how to manage with a drop in money iyswim but would be helpful to know what the drop will be.

They took £50 a week a couple of years ago for the best part of 6 months while we paid another overpayment back. Hate it.
