@whatthewhatthewhat
I think it was you that was wondering why companies aren't taking advantage of women that could work flexibly from home (without selling their bodies or MLM shite!). I think, I might possibly have the beginnings of a solution.
Since going back to work, I've been having a bit of an existential crisis I think. I'm seeing women every day that are financially, victims of men, and a society that doesn't give them viable career options for their circumstances. It's really getting me down, that even in my role, pointing them towards places like this thread is inappropriate, and they haven't got the resources or support to even know where to start.
I know I mentioned a work from home job fair previously, but I think this is a bigger issue than that can fix.
I'm thinking, if it's not a completely shit idea, about starting a charity. I want to be in a position to lobby companies to provide flexible, work from home options. I want to be able to provide laptops and phones and courses to help women have the tools to work from home, for themselves or an employer. MLM's and driving women like square pegs into round holes into jobs like childminding, because it's 'convenient' with small children, is infuriating me. I want to give women options.
I've spent the early hours drafting a proposal
I'm going to knock together some surveys and hopefully do some interviews to get some decent data to hopefully back up what I think. I'm going to start with military wives, where unemployment is something ludicrous like 32%, then hopefully be successful enough to branch out more.
Please do tell me if it's an absolutely crap idea before I present my idea to DH and the RAF Benevolent fund
I don't want to look like a tit.
