CCA 1974 and loan unsigned by creditor - legal?

DP has an old debt. Paid as far as he knew years ago.

trying to get evidence of this.

Anyway, he asked for a copy of credit agreement, and was sent it. However it is signed by him, but not by the creditor.

Is this document valid?
It states on section 2.1 'This agreement will be made when we sign it following signature by you' and is not signed by them.
Can he just get them to chuck it out on a technicality rather than the hassle he is having getting proof he paid?
