Get my stamps??

I was made redundant whilst on maternity leave and my mum said I need to go to the jobcentre to get my stamps or I will get a lower state pension. I have used the jobcentre twice in my life and it was a horrible experience. Is my mum correct and why have I never heard of stamps?

She means national insurance credits. If you have a child (under 12 I think) and are getting CB you will be getting NI credits anyway.

Thanks that makes a bit more sense.

Stamps is an old term for NI

If you are in UK you can check yourself online

You will need your National Insurance number

If you have been working, you may be eligible for contributions based job seekers allowance via universal credit or tax credits. You will need to apply on line. Then job centre will send you an appointment to attend. You will need to take identification and proof of your redundancy, P60 , P45 etc
