I need to ask a question and I'm getting sent round the houses when I try to call customer services.

It’s a nightmare.
They do respond to Twitter , but that’s just for show and pr. They have the worst customer services of any bank.
Close your account and choose one of the app based banks, starling, revolut, Monzo etc.
Santander are utterly shite.

I mean they do respond to twitter queries publicly, then when you’re transferred they just ignore you again . It’s dire.

@rashtash that's the trouble, I can't close the account! And I haven't been able to switch and transfer the balance either. They say I have to go into Branch and that is impossible. I don't know what to do.....

I've just closed my account with them. Anyone who thinks using a convicted drink driver as part of their ad campaign doesn't get my business.

I managed to close my account over the phone though but had already transferred money out with the app.

Try emailing their CEO: [email protected]

With most companies the CEO has a dedicated team for dealing with complaints. I found this route worked very well with dealing with Vodafone when I had terrible customer service from them.

Is it a current account and are you using the official switching service that's supposed to seamlessly sort it all within 7 days?

I don't work for Santander but I have accounts with them and haven't been to a branch to sort my online access as far as I recall.

Yes and yes and cannot switch because they say have to go into Branch. Branch is an hours drive away and I am housebound.

It sounds like there is a problem with your account and they need to verify who you are. They can't see you over the phone, so the only way is to go to a branch and see someone face to face. No different to any other company needing to verify your identity.
