I've been (very unexpectedly paid from work. I was full time, now i'm going to go part time and will have zero disposable income. but becuase this is an unexpected payment and because i've budgeted for my bills etc, the 700 i got paid is ALL DISPOSABLE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

Bearing in mind that we will be totally effing skint (but we can cover our bills - just no fun) and that this is the last time i will ever see this much money waved under my nose for at least 5 or 6 years...

What would you spend it on - necessities or fun?

necesseties include - savings for future (we've got no savings), car tax, car insurance, MOT costs, potential boiler bursting... that type of thing

fun includes: new clothes for ds who currently lives in his 2 nephews handme downs, shoes for me, frippery for the house, toys for DS...

MNers, help me spend my money

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I would split it 90% emergency fund, 10% fun.

Peace of mind is so important. Kids don't mind hand-me-downs. It's better if you know that the money is there if the boiler blows up/car breaks down.

Buy yourself one nice pair of shoes and whack the rest straight into the building society! We had to replace our boiler three months ago and I am still floundering around with a huge overdraft because there was no slack in the system to absorb an emergency. Sorry!

I would spend it on a holiday, have a really good time, imo your dc's will appreciate this more than new clothes.
