I’ve just switched to universal credit from tax credits
My children and I have escaped domestic violence and are renting privately

Is universal credit paid in arrears as I’m struggling to manage

Any help appreciated x

Yes Uc is paid in arrears. There is a roughly five week wait for first payment but at your first ID appointment you can ask for an advance payment to tide you over.

Sorry I meant to add that the advance payment is then paid back gradually over a number of months.

So if I’m struggling I understand I can get it weekly is that right

I don't think you can get it weekly. The most frequently you can get it is twice a month.
