Will my credit score be affected?

I've stupidly just gone over my credit card allowance by £18. I've paid into the account and called Barclaycard who have said they will reverse the charges as a gesture of goodwill.

This is the first time I've gone over, do you think my credit score will be affected?

A charge is an arbitrary punitive amount levied by a firm only for the purpose of controlling a customer's behaviour and gaining extra profit. The only link is what they decided to tell the credit reference agencies every 45 days or so.

The inner workings of lenders bears little relationship to what they tell their customers.

You've paid don't worry

Ignore your score, it's an irrelevant number that only you can see.

On what's happened I don't actually think there is anything to report. It's not like you are late or not paid at all.
They charge a penalty to rip you off a little more to stop you going over your limit but have at their discretion credited that back to you and you have paid anyway. I don't think there is anything to worry about either.
